Today, the Victorian Government contacted ACWA by phone and email and directed that car wash businesses across Victoria must close.
We were advised that COVID Compliance Officers had reported a significant number of car wash businesses in metro and regional Victoria were open and trading.
The Victorian Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions has now categorically confirmed to ACWA that car wash businesses are not included on the authorised worker list and must close. This ruling applies across Victoria.
ACWA was reminded that there are significant penalties for operating in contravention of COVID restrictions. Penalties can be found here https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/fines-enforcement-and-reporting.
ACWA has recently and again contacted relevant politicians, including the Premier, Chief Health Officer, the Minister for Jobs and the Minister for Small Business. We continue to fight for car washes to be open. We will keep members up to date with our progress.
